Our Team
Bob Deely, Geek Prez
Prior to joining Metageek Bob was President of Ox/Gen Inc., Managing Director of Cypress Semiconductor, Director of In-System Design and General Manager of Hewlett Packard's LaserJet Division. He also owns two small businesses including an art gallery and commercial real estate investment company. Mr. Deely is a native of San Antonio, Texas, and married his high school sweetheart, Irene, a native of eastern Washington. They have three grown children and the proud grandparents of two boys and two girls. Personal interests besides his family include visual arts, music, traveling, skiing, golfing, scuba diving, boating and car and home remodeling.
Bob's professional career began in 1975 with Hewlett Packard Co. in Boise, Idaho, as a R&D Engineer developing hardware and software for HP printers. He was considered by many the model for the "Deelybobbers" as well as a "nerd" poster that circulated amongst technology companies. Of course, "nerds" were the precursors to "geeks" and his attire was the classic taped together glasses, pocket protector, high water pants, white socks and calculator at the ready hanging from his belt for any quick multi-variable function analysis. Bob had to abandon his geeky look when he moved into management a few years later. However, if you see Bob around his house today you may catch a glimpse of him in his retro duds.
Ryan Woodings, Chief Geek
In 2005, having recently finished a master’s degree in computer science, Ryan was developing short-range wireless systems for computer mice and keyboards and had to make sure that his wireless systems weren’t interfering with one another. To do this he was using a $30,000 spectrum analyzer. It quickly occurred to him that having to rely on such an expensive piece of equipment for so commonplace but crucial a task would severely limit the average Wi-Fi network operator for whom such an expensive tool was unavailable. Ryan knew there had to be a simpler, and far less expensive, solution... six months later he introduced the original Wi-Spy.
As MetaGeek has grown Ryan has worn a variety of hats. These days he spends most of his time developing the next generation of Chanalyzer and managing the website. To relieve his stress Ryan enjoys running... a lot. When he's not training for a half marathon he's training for a full marathon. In the summer Ryan cruises to work on his Honda Shadow (65 mpg), mountain bikes in the Boise foothills and attempts to jump with his wakeboard.
Brian Tuttle, Geek Herder
Brian oversees R&D and handles the firmware development. To ensure that he doesn't ever develop a personal life, he also manages our hardware development. Most importantly, he brews the coffee.
Steve Johnson, Senior Code Geek
Steve may be the newest member of our team, but he's been a full-time developer since before Brian and Ryan took their first Pascal class in college. When Steve isn't cleaning up Ryan's code he's neck-deep training Chanalyzer to recognize device signatures.
Skay Woodings, Office Mom
Skay pays the bills, writes the pay checks, and keeps Ryan in-line... No wonder she's our hero.
Wen Olson, Operations Geek
You'll probably never talk to Wen… but you'll have her to thank for just about every aspect of the MetaGeek experience. She's our vendor relations specialist, and she's the one that keeps the wheels of commerce rolling around here. From product packaging to circuit boards, she's our whip-cracking, Wi-Spy-building, go-to gal.
Christian Harrison, User Experience Geek
Christian isn't a geek... but he speaks Geek fluently, and we're happy to have him on the team. He's been around the tech block a few times, and is our advocate for clean, intuitive design.
Trent Cutler, Intern #1
In a small company, it's important to have someone who can tackle the important-but-often-sidelined tasks that keep a business running smoothly. At MetaGeek, that's Trent. He's our intern.
Mark Jensen, Intern #3
