Announcing EaKiu 3.0b UNIVERSAL BINARY for OSX!

Aloha!

Cookware Incorporated is proud to announce VERSION 3.0b of EAKIU.
(Note, I have started a new thread for this as it is different from
previous versions and the old thread was getting pretty long).

EAKIU Version 3.0b is pretty much a complete rewrite of the stable
EaKiu 2.0 software. For this reason the 'b' has been added to the
version number to indicate BETA until we are confident that the
universal binary is working well for all users. If you encounter
problems with version 3.0b please report your problems, along with all
your system configuration information, to eakiu@cookwareinc.com. If you
find version 3.0b unusable please roll-back to version 2.0 (which is
available on our website for download).

This version of EaKiu is a true Carbonized Universal Binary. This
version should work well on both Apple PPC and Intel platforms (Intel
users should see a minimum of a 4X boost in performance).

While version 3.0b retains almost identical functionality of the
previous 2.0 version (there are some new features, but functionality it
is very similar) - the user interface has been VASTLY changed.

The new UI for 3.0b dispenses with the need to use keyboard commands.
Additionally, all command-line options are no longer available and have
been folded directly into the software itself.

You will notice that buttons have replaced most of the control text in
the EaKiu window - these buttons allow you to control almost all of the
EaKiu functionality without having to resort to the keyboard (don't
worry, the keyboard commands are still there, though some have been
changed).

Furthermore, setting values no longer requires the keyboard keys - as
almost all values can be set by manipulating the mouse in the value
areas.

The new download is a .dmg file (as opposed to a .tar.gz as the
previous versions) and should mount properly as a Disk Image. The
download contains not only the EaKiu application, but also the full
Manual (in HTML format) and also the LINUXspy Folder for creating LINUX
Wi-Fi remote servers.

Version 3.0b of EaKiu also has a number of new capabilities including:

* Complete button interface
* The ability to customize the LINEAR 2D graph
* The ability to dynamically switch between SOURCE input
* The ability to view CSV files without restarting the program
* The ability to go in and out of Client/Server mode without restarting the program
* Much much more... investigate :)

Enjoy! And don't forget to report any problems to eakiu@cookwareinc.com

Aloha WiSpy Users...

Cookware Inc has released version 3.1 of the Universal Binary OSX
software for WiSpy. This is a small upgrade but we encourage all OSX
WiSpy users to upgrade to this version.

Version 3.1 fixes a crash point upon startup when wireless A-networks
were in the area (the Apple wireless framework returned unexpected
information in that situation). Version 3.1 also fixes a small problem
with the RESET button (it should not have reset the view) and enhances
the lighting in the 3D modes a bit (though the lighting still isn't
perfect.

You can get the latest download at: http://www.cookwareinc.com/EaKiu

Also, with this version 3.1 upgrade we consider the Universal Binary to be stable and no longer in beta.

We wanted to add a bunch of new improvements and features - but they
are not yet ready for prime-time release - and we did not want to wait
because of the A-network crash problem... so that is why this release
doesn't include as much as we would have liked.

Enjoy!

Aloha...

We have noticed a problem with the Universal Binary 3.0b version of
EaKiu currently available for download from
http://www.cookwareinc.com/EaKiu/

The problem causes EaKiu to stop running (crash) - most usually
immediatly after startup (though it could happen at a later point as
well). The problem is LOCATION dependent (e.g., where the computer
happens to be) - so you may never see this.

If you experience EaKiu shutting down with a crash almost immediatly
after startup, turn your AIRPORT wireless off. Then start EaKiu.
Rebooting your computer can also fix the problem.

The problem is that the Airport Framework seems to, based on location
and the wireless neighborhoods it sees, report channels that are
totally ficticious (such as channel 51, etc, there are only 14
channels). EaKiu did not have a range check in place looking for bogus
channels, thus a crash could happen when it sees them.

We have the problem fixed but have not yet posted the update as we are
waiting to make a number of other improvements. So... in the meantime
if you are experiencing this problem simply turn your wireless off and
start EaKiu. You can then turn the EaKiu AIRPORT sensing off by
clicking the AIRPORT word in EaKiu. This will prevent EaKiu from
looking for wireless neighborhoods at all. You can then restart your
wireless.

Please let us know if you experience problems with version 3.0b that are outside of the description above.
